Follow-Up Medication Post-Marketing


The Gulf Health Council has issued a manual regarding follow-up on medicine in the post-marketing period, which was approved by Ministers in each GCC Member State via Ministerial Decision No. (6) section 3 that was issued and circulated to Member States for the 52nd Conference - held in Riyadh on 8th and 9th January 2001.

All Member States are required to follow the directions outlined in the Post-Marketing Drug Tracking Manual when communicating with the Gulf Health Council on reports of side effects, drug quality or drug errors.

In response to the Ministerial Resolution No. (9) of the 54th GCC Council of Ministers of Health held in Abu Dhabi that includes "approving that the post-marketing drug follow-up program should be a priority for the Central Registration Department". The Gulf Health Council has held four seminars on the follow-up of post-marketing medicine in the presence of five pharmacists from each of the GCC countries.
