Radio and Television program ‘Salamatak‘

11/6/2017

'Salamatak' is an awareness program that began production after receiving the approval at the Conference of Ministers of Health in 1980. It is a radio-television educational health program produced in collaboration with the GCC Joint Program Production institution, and the culmination of the efforts of the Gulf Health Council in the field of health awareness. In just a very short period, 'Salamatak' has been able to influence the perspectives and behavior of GCC Member States' citizens regarding personal medical health.

The program, which has been closely followed by citizens and residents of the GCC Member States, has been produced in four, two-year stages. Preparations are under way to launch the fifth stage of this program, within a new concept and approach in order to cater to changing media consumption tastes.

Strategic objectives for the fifth phase include:

- Reduce the prevalence of deaths from endemic and potential diseases.

- Raise awareness on the health risks of diseases.

- Increase awareness and understanding of mental and social diseases and ways to prevent them.

- Raise awareness on preventive measures to protect the health of the individual and the family.

- Rationalize the use of public health services and environmental resources.

- Encourage personal communication and exchange of health information among the different types of GCC Member State citizens.

- Urge citizens to seek medical advice, benefit from the health services available in all GCC countries, and highlight the high-quality health and technical services of each Member State.
